Before you frown at multi-level marketing

Before you frown at multi-level marketing

Multi-level marketing (a.k.a. network marketing) is a phrase you have probably heard before. Sometimes, multi-level marketing gets painted in a bad light because it is often confused with pyramid schemes. For the sake of clarity, let us, first of all, look at the difference between the two. A pyramid scheme (a.k.a. Ponzi scheme) usually doesn’t involve an actual product. In most cases, members simply invest some money into the scheme with the promise that with each new member recruited, older members get a share of the investment. Clearly, this business model is unsustainable because it is capital that is being shared, not profit. As a result, someone is always losing money. It is only the people at the top that make any money.

Conversely, multi-level marketing involves participating in a distributor network for a product (or range of products). Here, a member of the network is rewarded from personal sales and commission from downline sales. As we can see, the key difference between the two scenarios is that with multi-level marketing, there is an actual product. It is also quite clear that multi-level marketing is not a bad thing. On the contrary, it is one of the most accessible ways to achieve financial freedom.

Multi-level marketing is one of the best ways to make money on the side. If you’re a full-time mom, a student or you’re gainfully employed, and you’re looking for something to do to augment your income, multi-level marketing is for you. There are several opportunities here in Nigeria, and people are making millions of naira from them everyday, so, why not you? A lot of the time, you don’t need a large initial investment to get started, you don’t need any prior skills or special equipment. You can simply start and run your business from the comfort of your home. Then again, some you may choose to engage in a multi-level marketing business full-time. This can also work. The beauty of multi-level marketing is that you get out of it what you put in. This means that the more time you dedicate to your home business, and the greater your zeal, the more likely you are to be very successful.

It is worth noting that there is a major requirement for success in a multi-level marketing business: you need to be able to SELL. Multi-level marketing is all about selling; you need to sell the products, and you need to promote the company in order to recruit new members (and grow your downline). A lot of people fail to accept this, and this is the reason why they struggle with multi-level marketing.

The good news is that anybody can be salesman if they’re passionate about what they’re selling, and the multi-level marketing industry offers so many products and companies to choose from. There are several multi-level marketing companies in Nigeria today, including Jeunesse Global, Forever Living Products, Trevo, Oriflame, Organo Gold, Tianshi, Edmark, Longrich and many more. These companies offer everything from products for weight management, to anti-ageing, to beauty and even coffee. Thus, you can pick whichever suits you best – something you know that you will use, and will be happy to recommend to someone else. Having done that, all you then need to do is channel your inner salesman, and pursue your multi-level marketing business with passion and drive, bountiful rewards await you.

I wish you all the best in your new endeavour.
